Background
This past Saturday night, Pontem was proud to help sponsor the American Warrior Association’s annual Hoedown For Heroes event in Forth Worth, Texas.
This was the 4th annual event since its inaugural debut in 2020. As in previous years, the goal was to raise both money and awareness for first responders.
Local Mission
The mission of the American Warrior Association is to honor military veterans, first responders, and their families in mind, body, and soul.
As the AWA state:
Our military, veterans and first responders experience traumatic events daily on the frontlines abroad or within our own communities at home. These on-the-job experiences become a grueling accepted reality and are unfairly brushed off as the “price of business”. Whether it is war and conflict, or human suffering and loss of life at home, those that serve the American People in their most dire times of need and within harm's way, bear the emotional weight and psychological scars of occupational trauma.
AWA’s programs help repair the soul and give rest and recovery to every individual.
The programs are free of charge to our warriors and paid for by the most generous patriotic donors who love those that serve our nation.
As a Fort Worth resident, it's inspiring to witness such an impactful non-profit originate and thrive here, making a real difference in the lives of our local first responders.
R3 Program: Respond, Restore, Resolve
This year also saw the introduction of the new R3 program, which, in collaboration with AWA and our local government, including the City of Forth worth, Fort Worth Police Department, and Fort Worth Fire Department, provides a groundbreaking initiative for first responder well-being.
To go along with the R3 launch, this year, June 11th was declared Moral Injury Awareness Day in Forth Worth, which is a day meant to shine a light on the unseen battles faced by our first responders, military service members, and veterans.
The program is a novel public-private partnership model that is designed to scale nationwide.
A Little Bit of Fun
And of course, what charity event is complete without some good entertainment…
For this year’s Hoedown for Heroes we had the one and only Texas Country music legend, Robert Earl Keen perform.
We had a great time supporting and attending Hoedown for Heroes this year and look forward to continuing to support this great cause in the future.
Thank you very much for doing this! We can never thank first responders too much.
I sincerely hope that you and the team are doing well.
